Khalsom is an international artist of British and Malaysian descent, based in Singapore for over 10 years. An Interior Architecture graduate (2006) Khalsom has a background in design but has been painting all her life, and in recent years has been firmly focused on her dynamic art. Inspired by the concept of โLife, Love, Changeโ Khalsomโs work is all about beautiful fluidity and stunning colour. Her work captures moments in life that stand out, never to be forgotten. She uses bold brushstrokes, soft merging colours and butterflies to make her pieces come to life. The butterfly, the universal symbol of metamorphosis, grace and beauty, emerge in abundance over scenes simultaneously chaotic and calm, a representation of her ideals.
My art is all about texture, colour and layering. It’s a visual representation of who we are as people – complex and ever-changing yet intricately linked and interconnected. My artwork focuses on the nuances of human nature and our innermost feelings and experiences. Through my vibrant colour palette and range of textural elements, create an emotive and dynamic visual journey that captures the essence of our humanity. I explore the beauty in the imperfections and complexities of life, creating layered and unique pieces full of depth and meaning. The colours and textures come together to form something greater and more beautiful than their individual components. Each layer builds upon one another to create the desired effect, hinting at the intricate layers within us all.

Through flowers, I tried to portray my full self and where I am now.
Corolla is my latest series. It describes every major event of my life, the process of growth and how I deal with every scar that I cannot share with others. Corolla in Latin is โFlower Petalsโ, which means it covers and protects the inner organs. It has scars within every process of growth and more than just a visual beauty, flower petals represents the pain of growing and living in the present blissfully. These are the first three pieces of the series. Through spontaneous gestures, vibrant colours and texture, the flower is indeed the signs of growth and my journey thus far.
